BIOCOOR Launches Call for Suppliers to Support Large-Scale Ecological Restoration in the Nyungwe–Ruhango Green Corridor

26 June 2026

BIOCOOR (Biodiversity Conservation Organization) is pleased to announce a Call for Technical and Financial Proposals from qualified nurseries, suppliers, and organizations for the production and supply of 36,400 high-quality tree seedlings under the UMUTIMA W’IBIDUKIKIJE: Empowering Communities for Nyungwe–Ruhango Green Livelihoods Project.

Funded by the GEF Small Grants Programme (SGP OP8) through UNDP, the project aims to restore 25 hectares of degraded land across the villages of Muduha, Gitabage, Kirehe, and Kanyege in Nyabisindu Cell, Kaduha Sector, Nyamagabe District. The restoration area forms part of the ecologically significant Nyungwe–Ruhango Green Corridor, a landscape that plays a vital role in biodiversity conservation, climate resilience, and sustainable community livelihoods.

Over the years, the area has experienced severe environmental degradation caused by soil erosion, deforestation, declining soil fertility, and biodiversity loss. Through this initiative, BIOCOOR is working closely with local communities to restore ecosystems while creating sustainable green livelihood opportunities.

As part of the restoration activities, the selected supplier will establish or manage a functional nursery at or near the project site in Muduha Village to propagate and raise 36,400 tree seedlings, including indigenous/native species and agroforestry and fruit trees. The successful bidder will also ensure that seedlings meet the required quality standards, are delivered on schedule for planting activities, and provide technical support throughout the implementation process.

BIOCOOR invites experienced and eligible nurseries, cooperatives, private companies, and organizations with demonstrated expertise in tree seedling production to submit competitive Technical and Financial Proposals.
