Honoring a Legacy: Children of Late Dr. Alfred Paul Jahn Aid Rukaga Village Residents

Children raised by the late Dr. Alfred Paul Jahn, led by his son UWIMANA Fidele Jahn, visited Rukaga village in the Rwesero cell, Kigali sector, Nyarugenge district, on June 28, 2024. They provided food and soap to the residents, fulfilling the wishes of Dr. Jahn, who had instructed them to befriend the poor as part of his legacy.

During this event, 165 families received food packages, with the support of local authorities, including the Executive Secretary of Rwesero cell, Mr. NSHIMIYIMANA Jacques. Mr.

Nshimiyimana expressed the local government’s gratitude to Uwimana Fidele Jahn for honoring his father’s legacy of compassion.

“As the local government, we remember Dr. Alfred Paul Jahn as a friend to the poor. When he was alive, he would come and share with them, showing love. He was a great partner who helped improve the welfare of our citizens,” said Nshimiyimana.

“Even though Dr. Jahn is no longer with us, the children he raised visited us, and we see the love they have, remembering the kindness he left behind, especially his son Fidele Jahn, who continues to care for the poor as his father did.” He added.

In an interview with HANGA NEWS, Uwimana Fidele Jahn spoke about the family foundation established by the late Dr. Alfred Paul Jahn, which is dedicated to caring for the poor and educating children.

“Before he passed away, Dr. Alfred Paul Jahn asked me to continue two things: First, on the day of his death, instead of laying flowers, people should gather resources to buy food for the residents of Rwesero he used to help, which we have done. Second, he ensured that the 190 children currently in school would continue their education until they graduate. He also requested to be buried in the cemetery of the poor, and as you saw, and we honored that.”

Uwimana added that the legacy left by Dr. Alfred Paul Jahn is love, and he will continue to uphold it, especially for the residents of Rwesero, who were his friends.

Some residents shared their sorrow over Dr. Alfred Paul Jahn’s passing.

One resident said, “Dr. Alfred Paul Jahn’s death deeply saddened us, but we are grateful that his legacy continues unchanged through his children. We will keep praying for them, and we wish Dr. Alfred Paul Jahn eternal peace, believing he is in a good place in heaven.”
