On the Support of Irish Aid through TROCAIRE Rwanda BIOCOOR is currently implementing the “Community-Based Natural Resources Management and Governance” project in Nyaruguru and Nyamagabe Districts, Southern Rwanda.
The project aims to uplift individuals living in poverty, particularly rural women and youth, by promoting Agro-ecological methods within households and communities.
Project Scope: As part of the project’s second-year progression, BIOCOOR seeks to launch a pilot initiative: a village information sharing and education system.
This system is designed to tackle pressing issues of climate change adaptation and the adoption of sustainable agroecology practices, aligning closely with the objectives of the Irish Aid project.
Scope of Work: The selected consultant will be responsible for: Assessing the information needs and gaps within the target communities.
Designing and implementing an information sharing and education system tailored to the project’s objectives.Developing content related to climate change mitigation, sustainable agriculture, disaster management, and natural resource management.
Training local stakeholders, including rural women and youth, on the effective use of the information sharing system.
Exploring and recommending the integration of BIOCOOR’s online platforms for information dissemination.Conducting all necessary consultations with stakeholders to ensure the system meets community needs.
Providing BIOCOOR with the final activities required for effective information sharing.
Consultant Requirements: BIOCOOR is seeking a consultant or consulting company with experience in information sharing related to: Climate change mitigation and adaptation Agriculture and Agroecology Disaster management Natural resources management Environment management Early warning system Climate Information Technology Online radio installation Information Technology Climatology and Meteorology Hydrology Soil science Forestry and Biodiversity Monitoring Submission
Requirements: Interested consultants or consulting companies have to fulfill those other requirements and submit the documents recommended herein: Company profile or consultant CV outlining relevant experience.
Proposed methodology and approach for implementing the information sharing system.
Detailed budget breakdown, including consultancy fees and any associated costs.Three references from previous projects demonstrating expertise in information sharing related to the specified areas.
3 years of experience in planning, monitoring, learning, research, and evaluationProven experience in resource mobilization, research, planning, grant writing, fundraising, and donor relations within the context of NGO or development projects.Strong analytical skills and proficiency in monitoring and evaluation methodologies, including designing and implementing M&E frameworks, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders and build strategic partnerships.
Demonstrated understanding of biodiversity conservation, sustainable development, and climate change issues, particularly within the Rwandan context.Experience in the application of GIS and remote sensing in Landscape restoration and management Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, data analysis software, and project management tools.

Duration and Location: The contract duration will be 1 year.
The consulting company will do the assessments in Nyaruguru and Nyamagabe and conduct the workshops in Huye District at BIOCOOR Head Office.
